ACME THREADED RODS have a specialized, trapezoidal thread design, which is different from the traditional square or triangular threads found on regular threaded rods.
The threads are wider at the base, allowing them to bear more weight and reduce wear. The design is less prone to stripping or wear under high load conditions, making it more durable than other types of threads.
Often used in applications such as industrial machinery, jacks, presses, and automated equipment.
Manufactured from 1215 steel which has excellent machinability and a tensile strength of 78,000 to 85,000 psi and yield strength of 60,000 psi, while 1018 steel offers a tensile strength of about 63,800 psi and yield strength of 53,700 psi.
1215 steel, a free-machining steel, is generally considered poorly weldable due to its high sulfur content, which can lead to weld cracking and brittle joints.
