A one piece screw with a flattened head designed for manual turning with a tool or wrench. Thumb screws are usually available in two styles, Type 'S' (With Shoulder) and Type 'P' (Without Shoulder). This style is considered the 'Shoulder Pattern' (Type 'S') as it has a shoulder. A shoulder pattern allows the head of the screw to seat flush against the mating surface.
